Ordered an off the menu veggie pizza from them tonight. Asked them to leave off the cheese, but load up the veggies. And that is exactly what they did. olives, mushrooms, zucchini, artichokes, spinach tomatoes, etc. It was fantastic! One of the best veggie pizzas ever. I love it when people totally exceed my expectations. And now I have a place for veggie friendly pizza delivery. Awesome.

Ugh. Possibly the worst pizza in Saint Petersburg. Being our first visit, we figured we'd try their pizza as they bill themselves as a pizzeria. They have a huge menu, which is often an ominous sign. As to the pizza, it was a muddled, greasy obfuscation of blandness. Inexplicably, Johnny's seems to be popular with locals. Perhaps their other items are better, but based on the pizza, I won't be back.

Johnny's is a great little diner. It's in an old gas station building, which I think is fitting for a diner. The menu is large and diverse. The breakfast is delicious. The pancakes are really good and so are the omelets. The service is fast and friendly. There isn't too much seating inside and the parking is tight, but well worth it. The pizza is really good. It has a thicker crust and is loaded with cheese and toppings.

Don't waist you're time or money! First off the place looks like the owners gave up a long time ago. Service was slow to non existent with attitude. The calzone was ridiculously big, the crust was soggy and it had so much cheese I couldn't taste the main ingredients...it turned into a soupy soggy mess. The pizza is a little better, although is was super greasy and had no red sauce and no flavor to speak of.

People were super nice, the menu was long, a lot of choices, Italian, Greek, childhood favorites too. My food was excellent and I am stuffed. There is nothing else that you need , just bring a hearty appetite and enjoy!!!! :-) :-) :-)

We were introduced to this place because the portions are huge and have returned several times since. The soups are very good, especially the Veggie Beef (and not usually a fan of Veggie Soups but it is homemade and delicious) and the Split Pea is very tasty. Actually all the soups are good. My family of 5 has probably visited close to ten times. I have gotten the sirloin which reminded me a bit of a cafeteria but was tasty and huge. My son got the kids portion and could easily have feed a hungry adult. I find the sides a bit bland and the veggies soft but there are so many other delicious things to focus on. PIzza - REALLY good. My husband usually gets this and while I'm not a pizza person, it is amazing and is really tasty with a nice crust. The Greek salad is really good with fresh feta, home made potato salad and dressing..and sooo much of it. We've also tried the breakfasts, which were pretty good, and the steak N cheese sandwiches which are huge. We've had the prime rib, the stuffed pork chop, the meatloaf sandwich and the turkey club and would say they were all very large portions and pretty good on taste. More cafeteria than "foodie" but there are some really amazing dishes (see above.) The staff is always really friendly and nice. But since this is really a neighborhood restaurant, there are all types of people eating. Some a little scruffier than others but we've never had any kind of issues at all. Just wanted to forewarn you. This is not the "nicest" place in town but I'd bet they are the best value.

Great service, our server was very attentive. I got the chicken carbon bleu. Down part when I tried the chicken it was abit over cooked and they used hollandaise sauce instead of cheese. I mentioned this and they were pleasent about giving me something else. I love greek potato salad. I got a spinach pie meal better than my original choice. I usually get the house calzone and its huge and wow the side greek salad is great has big chunk of fetta cheese.

It's a dive. Really. Bathrooms are outside , left over that way from when it was a gas station. Went for brunch ended up having lunch. He had the chili mac. Came with soup or salad, The soup was good. I don't do chili mac so didn't try it but he loved it. I had the blandest most boring chicken sandwich in the world. Sometimes I need bland as my tummy gets moody and this was one of those days so even though it was appreciated I can certainly say it wasn't enjoyed. Their pizzas looked interesting, they served on a different crust then usual and smelled good. The place is not very clean, and when hectic dishes are piled everywhere and tables are sticky with leftover food on the seats. It's that kind of place.

My son and I went to dinner here Friday evening. It's a diner, small and full of tables. It was packed, so we sat outside (lots of tables outside, too). Son ordered : Mini 1 topping pizza with 6 wings; wings came in hot or mild, were small (wingettes), but good. Pizza was good too, lots of cheese. Came with soup or SMALL salad, and choice of pudding for desert. $9.95 (I think) I ordered: Crabcakes (2) came with corn and a potatoe, I got baked (It was overcooked, but big). Crabcakes were HUGE; unfortunately, they were also made with imitation crabmeat. What a disappointment. Didn't say it on the menu, and the waitress, who was very nice and attentive, didn't mention that either. Came with soup or salad (I got NE Clam chowder, very good, buttery tasting) & choice of pudding for desert. $8.95 Now, I have to explain, the $8.95 price DID throw me off, and I DID ask the waitress if they were made fresh, or if they were prepackaged. She assured me they were fresh, but again failed to inform me it wasn't REAL crab. We had sodas as well, and I think they were also included with the meals. Total bill came to like $23 and change, pre tip. The crabcakes were good, besides the fact that it wasn't real crabmeat. However, I dont think we'll go back, unless it's for breakfast. The fake crabcakes and overcooked, hard baked potato killed it for me :(

Johnny's is amazing. I've been there no less than 20 times. The food is always very good, the staff very pleasant, the portions large and the price low. I'm always telling friends about it. Don't pass up this gem! Yelp staff: This is a restaurant in what used to be a corner gas station. Please re-categorize it as a restaurant.

Stopped here last year with friends an was impressed with the food so we decided to try it again. This place doesn't look like much - it's an old converted gas station turned restaurant. Ambiance it sketchy but the menu is extensive and includes a list of about 20 daily specials. Servings are large and the price is very reasonable. Worth the stop if your looking for mass quantities of good eats at a great price in an unique environment.

im sorry to say - ive been a longtime customer, but the service has outweighed the food for me. i like the food, when they deliver the right food, i like the food when it actualy gets to my house, i kinda like it after i have to microwave it because it took so long. the truth is, ive been getting delivery from here for like 5 years, but the last 2 times just put me over the edge. took 2 hours last night. no apology, nothing. the time before, they forgot my stromboli, then i had to wait even longer to get it. ive always gave 5$ for a tip no matter how much the bill was. i just dont get it. the food is pretty good, so thats why this is such a bad thing. losing a loyal 5 year customer that dropped alot of money, despite the poor delivery time and the fact that the food might not be hot or even be there. well. thats why i put this comment up. if you go to the place, maybe youll be fine, you wont have to wait 1 hour, 2 hours for your food, but if your getting delivery, stay away, far away, and dont even bother calling. i hope management reads this, and im sure you may know who in st pete this is, i just had to wait 2 hours lastnight - called at 712 - got food past 9. little italys , diston heights, that place is the bomb, ill be getting my stuff from there, they dont deliver, but i can drive 5 mins. everyone else out there. that place is awesome. even if your food was at my doorstep on time, little italys has better food anyway.

Diner setting with a large selection on their menu. The choices are overwhelming. Price is definitely a bargain. Portions are large and tasty and usually come with desert and soup/salad. Service is quick and attentive. Great place for the lunch hour.

Despite feeling like you just walked into 1978, the pizza here is surprisingly good. Nothing special, but damn tasty. I saw a burger too. Probably the biggest I've ever seen.

this place is disgusting. for all of you people who write about Johnnys having great homemade food, think again. here is a little tip: if a restaurant has a HUGE menu like this place does, everything is cheap, frozen crap. in order for a restaurant to have a menu with this many items without it all being frozen, cheap garbage, they would have to have 50 cooks preparing fresh, homemade meals in the back. this is straight-up garbage. will never go there again....

Recently ate here for lunch and one of the daily specials was chicken cordon bleu. Was fairly tasty but after I had eaten a largo portion I realized the center cutlet was raw, not rare, totally raw. Didn't see it right away due to the sauce and the texture is what finally gave it away. Waitress couldn't have been nicer and was very apologetic. The owner was present (typically runs cash register) and she came over and initially argued with me it was ham then accepted I was indeed right and it was totally raw. She simply said "guess I need to teach them how to cook chicken" and simply walked off. Never apologized or made any move towards giving a crap about the dangers of consuming raw chicken. Waitress removed it from my bill and offered a replacement meal but I was so grossed out and irritated at the owners reaction I was done. I had about three days of digestive disorder and wont be returning to the grumpy Johnny's. Eat at your own risk, I wont return.

This sounded like the kind of place my dad would like.... So I waited for him to visit and finally tried out this quirky little joint. If you ever were going to say somewhere has a gas station/ old school diner vibe, this should be it. The service was what you would expect. Our server was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing by any means. Made some good recommendations which is always nice too. The menu may be dwarfed only Cheesecake Factories, as there is a ton to choose from. The confusing aspect is there are lots of things off the normal menu that are handwritten (and photocopied) specials menu with slightly different prices. The entrees on the menu are more, but come with salad and dessert. I guess the specials either come with salad only, or since we couldn't finish our meals, we weren't offered any. Food: I decided on the chicken parm, a childhood favorite, and my dad went for the lamb shanks over noodles. Both came with a salad, that being said, and knowing it wasn't extra, it was the smallest and most basic salad I've ever had. I think there's more veggies in a ramekin of coleslaw, but the Greek dressing was excellent, which our server recommended to us. My chicken was huge with a large side of pasta. The chicken was tough, not inedible, but not moist anymore. The lamb shank was tender, falling off the bone, and tasty. The noodles on both dishes were very basic, and though not spectacular, went well with the entrees. If I am ever in a super low key but starving situation, this would be a go to joint, or if you are hanging with anyone "old school" that doesn't like any frills, especially if they were born during the depression (yes I am saying old people would love this place). Could put a fourth star on there, as the prices are low and food is pretty good, but with the other reviews being so generous, I don't think that they are that amazing that I want to hype them up.
